Globally
Daimler spends approximately $20 million every day on research and development, about half of which goes towards efforts to reduce CO2. This occurs through investments in hybrid and fuel cell technology, as well as optimising internal combustion engines with greater fuel economy and reduced pollutant and noise emissions. Locally
Locally Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific (MBAuP) ensures that a high level of consciousness is maintained in respect to the environment around us. This is achieved by adopting and implementing principles of waste minimisation, improving the quality of water discharged from our facilities, reducing the risk of soil contamination and reducing the consumption of resources. Banksia Environmental Foundation
The Mercedes-Benz Environmental Research Award, in conjunction with the Banksia Environmental Foundation, is a $30,000 cash prize awarded annually to those deemed to demonstrate the most significant contribution to understanding or resolving local or global environmental problems through research. Now in its fifth year, the Award attracts the crème of Australia's researchers.
