Protecting the environment and conserving the natural foundations of life are fundamental values of Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific and its parent company Daimler AG.
The pursuit of excellence, through research and innovation, underscores our philosophy of environmental sustainability. This philosophy encompasses resource conservation, climate protection measures and environmental management systems.

Daimler's involvement in environmental activities is aimed at supporting and developing projects which provide a benchmark for innovation and a legacy for local communities.

Globally

Daimler spends approximately $20 million every day on research and development, about half of which goes towards efforts to reduce CO2. This occurs through investments in hybrid and fuel cell technology, as well as optimising internal combustion engines with greater fuel economy and reduced pollutant and noise emissions. Locally

Locally Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific (MBAuP) ensures that a high level of consciousness is maintained in respect to the environment around us. This is achieved by adopting and implementing principles of waste minimisation, improving the quality of water discharged from our facilities, reducing the risk of soil contamination and reducing the consumption of resources. Mercedes-Benz also supports numerous local environmental initiatives as listed below:

Carbon Offset Program

In a partnership with Climate Positive, Mercedes-Benz Cars (Mercedes-Benz, smart and Maybach) have developed an innovative program that offsets the carbon emissions associated with the first three months of new vehicle ownership. Through accredited, verified emission offsets, one hundred per cent of the carbon footprint is accounted for. The union also addresses historical 'carbon debt' through reforestation of biodiverse forest ecosystems above and beyond the verified offsets. The program is designed to give customers a 'kick start' in offsetting, encouraging them to continue this worthwhile activity.
